Menya Noodle Bar

Menya Noodle bar is my absolute favourite place to eat when i'm out and about in the city. Nestled away in a quiet building surrounded by the ever busy Chinatown, this little gem is hard to come across with its small opening and quiet exterior. Welcomed with loud japanese greetings from the kitchen staff, you can feel a warm and friendly reception as soon as you enter.

The opening suggests the noodle bar will be quite small and customers may be taken back by the small seating or lack of. With only two long tables with seats on either sides, one may feel cramped or astonished at the lack of privacy when conversing.  As a first impression, I feel customers may not feel comfortable with this level of closeness, however loyal customers can  appreciate this intimate setting.

Menya specialises in noodles called ramen and also serves rices, curry and box sets. One can wonder how such a petite noodle bar can be bustling with laughter late into the night, however visitors can tell you about the captivating taste of ramen. I would consider Menya a reasonable and filling place to eat. I tend to visit late at night due to my abnormal cravings for food.

I would say I go there for the atmosphere if not more than the food. Now when I visit I see people of every culture coming together and embracing the simple yet amazing flavour of japanese food. I highly recommend others to try out this place whether it be out of curiosity or if you genuinely enjoy japanese food.
